PROJECT SUMMARIES

Streets - Equipment

PLOW TRUCK / DUMP BODY

13-STEQ-001

Description:

The proposed project will replace the current 2000 International plow truck with a new single axle plow truck. Included with the purchase will be a new dump body, plow and sander unit.

Justification:

The 2016 project will replace a 2000 International plow truck, which at the time of replacement, will be 16 years old.

The 2018 project will replace a 2000 International plow truck, which at the time of replacement, will be 18 years old.

Budget Impact:

Maintenance costs should be lower with a newer vehicle.

MOWING TRACTOR REPLACEMENT

21-STEQ-001

Description:

The proposed project will consist of replacing the 1999 Case tractor that is used for mowing right of ways and ditches.

Justification:

The current tractor is a 1999 model year and will be 21 years old at the time of replacement. The Project is currently under consideration for replacement in 2021.

Budget Impact:

This project will have minimal impact on the budget.

ARM MOWER REPLACEMENT

Description:

The proposed project will replace the current boom mower with a new piece of equipment. This purchase will coincide with the purchase of a new tractor.

Justification:

The current unit was purchased in 199 and will be in need of replacement.

Budget Impact:

Maintenance costs should decrease with the purchase of a new piece of equipment.

MOSQUITO SPRAYER

21-STEQ-003

Description:

The proposed project would purchase a new mosquito sprayer. The sprayer would be able to regulate pressure to compensate for changes in vehicle speed.

Justification:

A new sprayer would be more accurate delivering chemical.

Budget Impact:

Forklift

21-STEQ-004

Description:

The proposed project would purchase a late model used forklift.

Justification:

The current forklift is approximately 40 years old and replacement parts are becoming hard to find.

Budget Impact:

STREET SWEEPER REPLACEMENT

22-STEQ-001

Description:

The proposed project will replace a 1997 Elgin Mechanical Street Sweeper with a new unit.

Justification:

The current sweeper will be 22 years old at time of replacement and will need to be replaced.

Budget Impact:

Maintenance costs should be lower due to a new vehicle.

EQUIPMENT STORAGE

23-STEQ-001

Description:

The proposed project will construct a new equipment storage building at the street division location.

Justification:

Currently some of the department's equipment is being stored in a concrete domed building. This structure was previously used as a trickling filter when the city's wastewater treatment plant was located on the site of the current street division. This building is not suitable for the storage of equipment due to moisture issues.
