PROJECT SUMMARIES

Safe Routes to School

SPEED INDICATOR SIGNS

17-SRTS-001

Description:

The proposed project will purchase and install speed indicator signs near the schools in two phases. Phase I includes Lincoln schools and the Middle School. Phase II includes Fairview and Johnson schools.

Justification:

The proposed project is to increase awareness of driver's speed near school zones as well as to improve pedestrian safety.

Budget Impact:

There will be minimal impact on the budget due to this project.

PEDESTRIAN CROSSING IMPROVEMENTS

19-SRTS-003

Description:

The proposed project will continue the City's effort to make improvements at designated pedestrian crossings throughout the community. These improvements consists of the addition of new flashing, pedestrian activated beacons at the crosswalk. In some circumstances the current equipment is out of date and needs to be replaced for reliable operation. At other crosswalks, the equipment does not currently exist and this would be an enhancement to the current situation.

4TH STREET SE SIDEWALK

Description:

The proposed project will construct a new sidewalk from South Grand Avenue to 5th Avenue SE on 4th Street SE.

Justification:

The project will improve pedestrian safety.

Budget Impact:

There will be minimal impact on the budget due to this project.

ADA RAMP UPGRADES

22-SRTS-001

Description:

The proposed project would construct 23 ADA compliant sidewalk ramps in the following intersections: 7th Avenue W & W 9th Street 9th Avenue W & W 9th Street 11th Avenue W & W 9th Street 11th Avenue W & W 10th Street 11th Avenue W & W 11th Street West side of 11th Avenue W at the YMCA

Justification:

The purpose of the project is to bring these non-compliant ramps up to compliance and the location of the schools and YMCA makes this a great opportunity.

Budget Impact:

5th AVE E SIDEWALK

23-SRTS-001

Description:

The proposed project will complete the sidewalk system on 5th Avenue East from East 16th Street to East 19th Street. The project will also include ADA compliant ramps

Justification:

The project will complete the sidewalk system that connects to Fairview School.

SRTS Plan Update

25-SRTS-001

Description:

The proposed project will update the current Safe Routes to School plan.

Justification:

Most of the identified projects in the current plan have been completed.
