The proposed project consists of replacing the current RBC units at the treatment plant with the used ones that we have stored on site. 13-WTP-001 RBC UNIT REPLACEMENT The Department anticipates replacing several units per year, as needed. Several years ago, the Department was able to purchase used RBC's that were still is good working condition for a fraction of the price. These are currently being stored a the plant ready to be installed as old ones wear out. The budget will be impacted on an annual basis for installation of the new RBC units. Maintenance costs on the units should be lower. The proposed project will replace the lower gear unit on one of the screw pumps at the wastewater treatment plant. These pumps are used to transfer sewage into the treatment facility. The old gear unit will be refurbished for use as a spare. 19-WTP-001 SCREW PUMP LOWER UNIT

The proposed project will consist of the purchase and installation of a stand-by generator at the equalization pumping station. 19-WTP-002 EQ PUMPING STATION GENERATOR

The project will fulfill a mandated requirement form the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

The proposed project would expand and remodel the current lab space. Included in the remodel in upgraded electrical and plumbing systems, new working surfaces and cabinets. 20-WTP-001 LAB UPGRADE / REMODEL The current lab facility will be 44 years old at the time of remodel. The new operating permit from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources will likely require additional testing be performed. The upgraded lab would enable the City to continue testing on site. The proposed project is the next phase of the rehabilitation of the current wastewater treatment facility. The projects identified in this phase include the replacement of the original plant generator, sludge mixing equipment, plant boiler system, screw pump steps and the rehabilitation of the two existing clarifiers and the addition of a third clarifier. 20-WTP-002 2021 WTP PLANT REHABILITATION The projects are part of the city's overall project to maintain the current treatment facility and to ensure that it is in good working condition. With reference to the clarifiers, the current clarifiers will be 45 years old at the time of rehabilitation. The addition of the third clarifier will help increase the plant capacity as identified by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

The purpose of the project is to extend the useful life of the current tank. There should be minimal impact on the operating budget due to this project.
