Description The proposed project is the next phase of the rehabilitation of the current wastewater treatment facility. The projects identified in this phase include the replacement of the original plant generator, sludge mixing equipment, plant boiler system, screw pump steps and the rehabilitation of the two existing clarifiers and the addition of a third clarifier. The proposed project would also expand and remodel the current lab space. Included in the remodel in upgraded electrical and plumbing systems, new working surfaces and cabinets. Justification The projects are part of the city's overall project to maintain the current treatment facility and to ensure that it is in good working condition. With reference to the clarifiers, the current clarifiers will be 45 years old at the time of rehabilitation. The addition of the third clarifier will help increase the plant capacity as identified by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. The current lab facility will be 44 years old at the time of remodel. The new operating permit from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources will likely require additional testing be performed. The upgraded lab would enable the City to continue testing on site. Total Project Cost: $2,000,000
