WTP

The proposed project is the next phase of the rehabilitation of the current wastewater treatment facility. The projects identified in this phase include the replacement of the original plant generator, sludge mixing equipment, plant boiler system, screw pump steps and the rehabilitation of the two existing clarifiers and the addition of a third clarifier. The proposed project would also expand and remodel the current lab space. Included in the remodel in upgraded electrical and plumbing systems, new working surfaces and cabinets. 20-WTP-001 2020 WTP PLANT REHABILITATION The projects are part of the city's overall project to maintain the current treatment facility and to ensure that it is in good working condition. With reference to the clarifiers, the current clarifiers will be 45 years old at the time of rehabilitation. The addition of the third clarifier will help increase the plant capacity as identified by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. The current lab facility will be 44 years old at the time of remodel. The new operating permit from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources will likely require additional testing be performed. The upgraded lab would enable the City to continue testing on site.

The proposed project would re-seal the bio solids tank at the wastewater treatment plant facility. 22-WTP-001 BIO SOLID TANK IMPROVEMENTS

Description: Justification: Budget Impact:

The purpose of the project is to extend the useful life of the current tank. There should be minimal impact on the operating budget due to this project.

The proposed project would replace the current concrete driveway at the wastewater treatment plant facility and pave the existing dirt road to the equalization pond. 22-WTP-002 DRIVEWAY REPLACEMENT The concrete will be approximately 43 years old at the time of replacement and has deteriorated due to heavy truck traffic.

Maintenance costs should go down with new pavement at the facility.

The proposed project will replace five RBC covers on the units at the wastewater treatment plant. 23-WTP-001 RBC COVER REPLACEMENT The project is part of routine maintenance on the units and will assist in extending the life of each unit.
