Departmental Highlights

The department accounts for the expenditures related to the Mayor and City Council. Bi-annual elections were held in November 2017 for the positions of Mayor and four of the city's seven City Council seats. The voters of Spencer elected a new Mayor and retained all four City Council members that were on the ballot. A listing of the elected official for the City can be found a the beginning of this report.

Budget Review

Total expenditures for the mayor and council were $51,272.58 for FY 18 an increase of $1,567.98 (+3.15%) compared to FY 17. The primary reason for the increase is that after the budget was set, the compensation advisory commission decided to give the Mayor an increase in annual salary. Elected officials my elect to participate in IPERS, but are not required to do so. Payments to IPERS for those that chose to participate remained flat for FY 18. Overall, the department expended 101.75% of it budget.
