STREET DEPARTMENT - SNOW REMOVAL

DEPARTMENT INFORMATION

The Street Department - Snow Removal budget accounts for the expenditures related to snow removal. This includes salaries, supplies, such as sand and chloride for the streets, and maintenance on the equipment. Due to the dependency on nature, this budget will fluctuate greatly from year to year. The past several snow seasons, the City has seen favorable winter conditions and during those times saw our expenses related to snow removal decrease. Expenditures decreased by $55,270.44 (-34.02%) compared to FY16. In FY17, the City added a couple of budget line items for the Snow Removal budget to break out operating supplies and contract labor. During snow events, the City usually contract with local trucking firms to assist in removing snow from Grand Ave and other parts of town. Previously to FY17, the costs associated with these contractor and the purchase of sand, salt and equipment repairs were lumped together in one line item. The Department expended 62.30% of its budget in FY16.
