ANIMAL CONTROL

DEPARTMENT INFORMATION The Animal Control budget accounts for the expense of capturing and housing stray animals that are reported within the city limits. The Police Department is responsible for capturing stray animals and animals are housed by local entities. If the owner of the animal is found, the owned will pay any housing costs as well as bringing their animals shot records up to date. If the owner does not claim the animal, the animal is put up for adoption, if it is deemed suitable for adoption. Expenditures for animal control decreased slightly in FY17 by $890 (-4.93%) compared to FY16 expenditures. This can be attributable to an decrease in the number of stray cats and dogs captured. Overall expenditures were 71.51% of budget.
