FUND INFORMATION

This fund accounts for the Landfill's Environmental Protection efforts. The primary source of revenue is from a $0.50 / ton fee that is added to the regular tipping fee for all waste deposited at the Landfill. The fee is retained from the state tipping tax and the fund is mandated by DNR regulations. The Iowa Administrative Code stipulates that this money may be used for the development of a closure or post closure plan, the development of a plan for the control and treatment of leachate including the preparation of facility plans and detailed plans and specifications, the preparation of a financial plan or other environmental protection activities.
