LITTLE SIOUX TRAIL/RIVERFRONT PRJ

PROJECT #401

PROJECT INFORMATION The Little Sioux Trail and Riverfront Project consisted of the construction of a new PCC recreational trail along the Little Sioux River, a new bridge crossing of the Ocheyedan River and the construction of a public viewing platform/canoe access along the Little Sioux River. The trail component of the project continued the existing PCC trail that begins in West Leach Park and continues over the newly constructed bridge along the Little Sioux River until it intersects with Thunder Bridge Road, where the off-road trail terminates. A new bridge was constructed crossing the Ocheyedan River near the confluence with the Little Sioux River. The public viewing platform and canoe access were constructed along the Little Sioux River on the north side and at the end of 2nd Avenue West and Park Street. Funding for the project came from Park Reserves, public donations, a REAP grant, STP grant, a Renaissance Initiative grant and a RECAT grant.
