TREES FOREVER

FUND #122

FUND INFORMATION

The City annually participates in the Trees Forever program. Trees Forever is a national organization whose mission is to "plant and care for trees and the environment by empowering people, building community and promoting stewardship." Every spring, the City promotes a tree planting somewhere around the city. Previous locations have included the city cemeteries, city parks and the Clay County Fairgrounds. Revenues for offsetting the cost of planting trees are derived from local utility companies, including Black Hills Energy and Spencer Municipal Utilities. The City has been recognized by the Arbor Day Foundation as a Tree City USA community for 20+ years.
