Many people choose to spend their leisure time in some form of recreation, whether it is active or passive recreation. An increased demand for recreational areas and activities can put excessive burden on existing facilities, resulting in current facilities to become inadequate. A sound park system and recreational activities can be categorized as necessary components of a desirable living situation. Many psychologists and biologists deem recreation as a positive force. It is believed recreation uses and areas create peace of mind and increases pride within community residents. Therefore, it is apparent parks, trails and recreational amenities in a community are not only desirable but necessary for the well-being of the residents.
